CNE announces independent audit of the scrutiny center's technological solution

The electoral technological solution for the scrutiny center and the final version of the computer file for older citizens, for the elections of next August, will be the subject of an "independent external audit", announced the president of the CNE.

According to the president of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Manuel Pereira da Silva, at the moment the body is already at full speed in the preparatory process for the general elections in the second half of August.

"I would like to highlight here the beginning of the acquisition of electoral logistics and the production of electoral material, which should start arriving in the country in the next few days", he said at the inauguration ceremony of the electoral body's headquarters, in Luanda.

Among the ongoing actions, he also underlined the acquisition of the electoral technological solution to the scrutiny centre, "which will be subject to an independent external audit by an entity chosen within the scope of an international public tender".

"Receipt of the provisional version of the computer file of senior citizens, and its final version will also be subject to an independent external audit", assured the president of the CNE.
Manuel Pereira da Silva also reported on the start of work with a view to drawing up the definitive mapping of polling stations and the work to prepare the electoral roll.

"The creation of conditions for the successful holding of elections abroad, a fact that will happen for the first time in history as a result of the constitutional revision of 2021", he stressed.

The official added that in the coming days, the civic and electoral education campaign "which aims to mobilize voters for civic and orderly participation in the electoral process" will also be launched.

"The commitment of the CNE and its local bodies is total so that the conditions are created for the 2022 general elections to take place in a climate of fraternity for everyone to participate and for each one to freely express their option", he highlighted.

The new CNE headquarters, which includes a National Polling Center, was inaugurated in Luanda by President João Lourenço.

The new building, named Margaret Anstte, former United Nations special envoy to Angola to verify the 1992 elections, was built by the Israeli group Mitrelli and is budgeted at over US$44 million.

The facilities, built in an area of ​​10,000 square meters, whose works began in June 2020, also house on the second floor 16 offices for the election commissioners, an auditorium, plenary room, the president’s room and other spaces.

"We can be proud of having decent facilities that are up to our challenges, I also highlight the fact that for the first time we have our own facilities for the National Scrutiny Center, thus ending the use of leased facilities, which were not only inadequate but also expensive for the public purse", pointed out Manuel Pereira da Silva.

The installations, continued the president of the electoral body, "not only improved the working conditions of the CNE, above all, dignified the institution" whose essential mission is to organize, coordinate, conduct and carry out all electoral processes conducted in Angola.
