Government approved extraordinary funding of 882 million kwanzas for 11 parties

The executive approved an extraordinary funding of 882.6 million kwanzas for the 11 legalized political parties, announced the Minister of State and head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic.

:

Adão de Almeida, who was speaking at a press conference at the end of a meeting with political parties with parliamentary seats on the electoral process, said that this funding is not for the electoral campaign.

According to Adão de Almeida, the funding for the electoral campaign is only defined after the approval of the candidacies by the Constitutional Court.

Angola will hold general elections in the second half of August, and preparations are underway for them at this time.

The Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic said that the Law on Financing for Political Parties defines that, in an election year, there is extraordinary funding, which is granted to all legally existing political forces.

"Today we also share a decision in execution, which the President of the Republic approves and defines the extraordinary funding for each of the 11 political parties legally existing at that time. A value that is 80.2 million kwanzas for each of the 11 parties legally existing political parties, which makes a total of 882.6 million kwanzas", he underlined.

Adão de Almeida said that the Ministry of Finance already has guidance to "execute immediately".

"If, on the side of the political parties, everything is in order, so that next week this matter will be executed and fulfilled", he advanced.
