Angola ready to host the VIII African Congress on Petroleum

It is already next Monday that Luanda will host the VIII edition of the African Oil Congress and Exhibition (CAPE VIII). The event, which brings together member countries of the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO), will take place in the capital until 19 May.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, who represents the country at the International Conference on Mining in Africa, which ends this Thursday in Cape Town.

Expectations for the event in Angola include promoting support for investment in the oil and gas sector on the continent.

It is recalled that Angola holds the presidency of APPO, so the minister looks at this meeting as a space for reflection, seeking to provide investors with the opportunity to have more information and deeper knowledge about the strategic direction of the oil and gas industry in Africa. , refers to Angop.

The Africa Oil Congress and Exhibition has been organized for 18 years and is considered the biggest event in the sector in the citnente. In 2022, the theme is "Challenges and Opportunities in the African Energy, Oil and Gas Industry".

Positive note for participation in the International Conference on Mining

Speaking to the press, the Minister of Mineral Resources also addressed the country's participation in the International Conference on Mining in Africa, classifying it as "positive at all levels".

The minister highlighted the meetings with his counterparts from several countries, noting the need to deepen the dialogue, so that Africa stops being just a producer of raw material and also starts to transform its ores.

He also highlighted the meetings with Anglo-American and Rio Tinto companies with a view to promoting new studies and investments in the national territory.

In total, more than 6000 delegates from all over the world participate in the conference, also known as 'Mining Inbada', which started on Monday and ends this Thursday.

In addition to the government delegation, Angola is also represented by the companies Endiama and Sodiam and the Mining Companies of Catoca, Cuango, Chitotolo, Uari, Yetwene and Furi, as well as by Kapu Gems.
