According to Mário Sebastião, human resources director of the company, almost all the products were submerged because the water reached a meter and a half high.

Cited by Expansão, the responsible advanced that the store's electrical network was also damaged because of the water.

The day the store was hit by rain, the employees who were working in the supermarket began to panic, he said, adding that until the arrival of the firemen the workers had to take shelter on the upper floor of the store to escape the water.

In addition to the store, the warehouse and machine area also suffered damage. The person in charge explained that because of the damage, Shoprite had to close its doors for three days.

"At this time, we made a provisional balance of the damages and they are estimated at more than 30 million kwanzas, because we recovered few products and technical material," he said.

From this analysis, the company found that several food products, computer materials, and appliances had been damaged by the rainwater.

In two years, this is the second time that the supermarket suffers flooding caused by rain.
