The subject was addressed during a meeting between the ambassador and the presidents of the Angola Olympic Committee, Gustavo da Conceição, and the Angolan Paralympic Committee, Leonel da Rocha Pinto.
"We talked about the issue of how China could help Angola in vaccinating Angolan athletes," Gong Tao said, speaking to Rádio Nacional de Angola.
The ambassador explained that the Chinese vaccine could be administered to the Angolan delegation, thus allowing Angolan athletes "to participate in the next Olympic Games in Tokyo, which are getting closer.
Speaking about the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing, capital of China, the ambassador considered that the games are "a good occasion for the two countries to deepen even more the knowledge about each other and it is also a good occasion to exchange opinions, to deepen cooperation in the area of sports, in the area of the Olympic games".
Referring to the outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic, the official acknowledged that the world is going through a "difficult time."
"We agreed that China and Angola will continue to make reinforcements so that we can have a greater control and prevention of covid-19" and thus "guarantee the presence or success of the Olympic Games" in Beijing, he indicated.
At the meeting, the officials reached the consensus that they will "constantly maintain contacts for these issues," he added.
