Customers owe ENDE more than 100 billion kwanzas

Customers of the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE) owe the company more than 100 billion kwanzas. The revelation was made this Tuesday by Hélder Adão, chairman of the ENDE Board of Directors, at the inauguration ceremony of the Ambriz electrical substation, in Bengo.

According to Hélder Adão, most of the customers who owe debts to the company are in the capital, close to one million, of the approximately one million and 658 thousand customers in the country.

Cited by Angop, the chairman of the Board of Directors of ENDE did not indicate the exact amount of the debt, but stressed that the company has been pressuring debtors to proceed with the payment of debts, even if they do so in installments.

He explained that the economic problems caused a slowdown in the progress of some electrification initiatives in the country, however, Hélder Adão indicated that ENDE has ongoing negotiations to finance other works, giving the example of the electrification project of the Dembos triangle, Bengo.

He also took the opportunity to talk about the Ambriz substation, which has been operating since 2018, but only opened this Tuesday. The official explained that this project is capable of hosting a total of 13 thousand connections, however, for now only 1668 connections have been made.

In view of the low number of connections, Hélder Adão admitted that it is necessary to make the economic activity of that area grow, so that, consequently, energy consumption also grows.

Mara Quiosa, governor of Bengo, said that the lack of electricity was one of the obstacles to economic growth in the region, but admitted that this problem has already been overcome and took the opportunity to ask businessmen to bet on that municipality.
