The MPLA said it understands why the president wants to prolong the state of emergency, admitting that the scenario will tend to get worse, since the country already has "cases of local contamination".
According to Américo Cuononoca, MPLA's leader, quoted by Angop, community transmission must be stopped.
As for the economy, the parliamentary leader said that in the last 15 days the government has adopted some financial relief measures, admitting that "it is a false testimony to say that the executive is not looking at the economic side".
UNITA Vice President Navita Ngolo, on the other hand, considered that an assessment should be made of the current situation in the country: "We need to be pragmatic. Despite our desire to see this pandemic eliminated from our country, we have not yet got it right, starting with mass testing".
The other parties - PRS, CASA-CE and FNLA - were also in favour of extending the state of emergency. However, they advise that more relief measures be found for the most vulnerable companies and families.
If the National Assembly agrees, this will be the third extension of the state of emergency and the country will live through the fourth period under the conditions imposed by it.
