"The implementation of this project, whose total investment will be three million dollars, will guarantee the creation of 140 direct jobs and will contribute to the economic development of the region through the integration of the community in conservation efforts and tourist attraction", points out the ministry, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.
According to the statement, on Tuesday morning, the "ceremony of presentation and delivery of the private investment registration certificate for the Luiana Plains Safaris project, the first to be implemented in the Angolan Okavango region", took place at the Ministry of Tourism's facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Augusto Kalikemala, "considered the act as a symbolic and representative milestone of the ongoing efforts to boost the country's tourism potential".
Representatives of the company Luiana Plains Safaris highlighted that, "as it is a remote region and one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in the world, the Okavango region deserves to be developed for sustainable tourism, a commitment that they will carry out with the investment now underway, in order to put Angola on the map of high-yield tourist destinations".
While Gerónimo Pongolola, director of the Angolan Agency for Private Investment and Export Promotion (AIPEX), speaking at the time of delivery of the certificate, "guaranteed that the benefits granted, the obligations assumed and the deadlines defined will be observed with rigor and professionalism".
Rui Lisboa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Agency for the Management of the Angolan Okavango Region (ANAGERO), as well as members of the management team of the Ministry of Tourism were present at the ceremony.
