Vera Daves and BNA governor are part of the Angolan delegation in the USA

Angola, through a delegation led by the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, is participating in the Spring Meetings of the Bretton Woods Institutions, which started last Monday (15 April) and will run until next Sunday, 21 April April, in Washington DC, in the United States of America (USA).

In addition to Vera Daves, the delegation is also made up of the governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), Tiago Dias, as well as the deputy governor of the BNA, Pedro Castro e Silva.

Also part of the national delegation are the Secretary of State for Planning, Luís Epalanga, the president of the Board of Directors of the Sovereign Fund of Angola, Armando Manuel, the representative of the Ministry of Transport, Ottoniel Miguel, "in addition to other senior officials from ministerial departments and public institutes, which during the event will meet with important global players in the economic and financial sector", according to a note from the Ministry of Finance, to which VerAngola had access.

The members of the delegation will be subdivided according to the topics to be addressed and will participate in various seminars, round tables and discussion panels.

"The participation of the Minister of Finance is expected in the meeting of Ministers and Governors with the G20, in the meeting of the African Consultative Group (African Caucus) with the Director General of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, with the Director of the IMF's African Affairs Department, Abebe Selassie, and with the President, Ajay Banga, as well as with the vice-presidents for Southern and Eastern Africa, and for Human Development of the World Bank Group, Victória Kwakwa and Mamta Murthi, respectively", reads the statement from guardianship.

According to the statement, the cycle of Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (GBM) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will bring together "the main figures on the international economic and financial scene during several high-level meetings, addressed to ministers and bank governors centers, in addition to hearings and meetings with executives from international banks and those responsible for various Bretton Woods institutions and international high finance, to address the international macroeconomic situation, as well as discuss and analyze concrete issues related to the African and Angolan regional situation".

Furthermore, the Spring Meetings program also includes other "major events", which will have Angolan participation, such as the meeting with the Monetary and Capital Department, and "also with representatives of banking institutions such as Deutsche Bank, Crédit Agricole Bank, Citi Bank, Bank Trust&Co and Afreximbank".

The aforementioned Spring Meetings are held annually and bring together "central bank officials, finance and development ministers, deputies, private sector businesspeople, representatives of civil society organizations and academics" with the aim of debating "world economic perspectives, the eradication poverty, economic development and support efficiency".
