The Minister of State for the Social Area, Dalva Ringote, chaired the first ordinary meeting of the Intersectoral Coordination Commission of the "Kwenda" program, to analyze the state of its implementation until March.
A note from the meeting refers that the program has already been implemented in 9397 villages and neighbourhoods, 214 communes, 61 municipalities in 18 provinces, 1,608,000 households have been registered, and absorbed only 32 percent of the resources made available.
The president of the Social Support Fund (FAS), Belarmino Jelembi, quoted by the Angolan news agency, announced the intention to increase benefits, noting that to date 33 billion kwanzas have already been made available in the implementation of the programme, which supports more than 600,000 families across the country.
Belarmino Jelembi stressed that they intend to increase the number of beneficiaries, noting that the process of registering families continues.
The "Kwenda", a government initiative program implemented since 2020, aims to support families in poverty and vulnerability.
The program, valued at 420 million dollars, is financed with 320 million dollars by the World Bank and 100 million dollars by the State.
