Two people died and another was injured in clashes between security forces and members of a sect in Huambo province, whose leader is being accused of "criminal association", police announced.

:

According to a communiqué from the Huambo provincial command of the National Police, which the Lusa agency had access to this Monday, the incident took place in the municipality of Bailundo, commune of Lunge, village of Uchia.

The note refers that elements linked to the religious sect "Igreja Cristão Adventista do 7.º dia a Luz do Mundo", led by Isaac José Fernando, also known as "Rei Nombo" and his co-religionists known as "the armored" populations, intimidation, incitement to violence and misappropriation of fields belonging to local populations.

In view of the situation, the Public Ministry issued notifications of their appearance, however, without success, having subsequently ordered the arrest of the members, especially their leader.

The police point out that the leader of that church offered during his capture "strong resistance, using blunt objects against the police forces, which resulted in the death of two individuals and one wounded, among the insurgents".

"Accordingly, the PNA in Huambo appeals for the calm of the population in general, in particular that of Bailundo, as well as due respect for the authorities", underlined the police.
