European Union appoints new ambassador to Angola

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs announced this Thursday the replacement of 41 representatives of the community bloc in various countries and institutions, including Angola, Brazil, São Tomé and Príncipe and in the African Union.

In a statement, Josep Borrell reports that Rosário Pais was appointed ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Angola, which until then was ambassador of the 27 to Gabon.

Marian Schuegraf will be the EU ambassador to Brazil. The diplomat is Germany's ambassador to Colombia and was also responsible for the Latin America and Caribbean region at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Cécile Abadie, who is in charge of the Sanctions Division of the EU Diplomatic Service and had previously served on the EU delegation in Morocco, has been appointed EU ambassador in Gabon for Sao Tome and Principe and for the Economic Community of Central African States.

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs also appointed Javier Niño Pérez Ambassador to the African Union, Hervé Delphin to India and Bhutan, Katarina Mathernová to Ukraine, Jovita Neliupšienė to the United States of America and Stavros Lambrinidis to the United Nations (UN) in New York.

Josep Borrell also announced changes to the EU delegations in Brazil, China, Egypt, Kenya, Kosovo, Mexico, Pakistan, South Africa and the UN.
