According to the chairman of the board of the Instituto de Gestão de Activos e Participações do Estado (IGAPE), Patrício Vilar, following the process of sale on the stock exchange of Banco de Comércio Indústria (BCI), other processes will begin within weeks.

"The case of ENSA (Empresa Nacional de Seguros de Angola), the process is also advanced and very probably within two or three weeks the terms of the tender will also be published," Patrício Vilar told reporters Thursday.

For the privatisation of ENSA, he explained, "in a first phase it will be a tender, but with the commitment that the successful bidder will put it on the stock exchange in a relatively short period of time.

The official was speaking Thursday at the end of the award ceremony, in favor of private entrepreneurs, of business assets held by the State, in the sectors of industry and agriculture and livestock.

The IGAPE president said that after the "counter cycle" of 2020, because of the pandemic, when 33 privatizations were made, for this year privatizations of 100 assets are planned, hoping that the covid-19 "give truce" for its implementation.

"A large part of the assets already privatized went to local investors, but as a rule we are waiting for foreign investors for the big assets," he noted.

The authorities also expect the privatization process of Sonangol's stakes in the Caixa Geral Angola and BAI banks to begin within three weeks.

The third phase of privatization of industrial units in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) also begins in this period, mainly with auscultation processes and the opening of visits by interested parties to the units in the municipality of Viana.

"Next week we will release the list of companies that will be bidding in this third phase of the ZEE," pointed out the president of IGAPE.

The Government's ProPriv program foresees the privatization of more than 190 companies and/or state assets until 2022 in the sectors of banking, agriculture, hotels and tourism, finance, insurance, industry, telecommunications, oil, among others.
