According to a note released by the Civil House of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço also changed the name of the Secretariat for Political, Parliamentary and Constitutional Affairs, which is now called the Secretariat for Political and Parliamentary Affairs.
Following these changes, the president dismissed Flávio Saraiva de Carvalho Fonseca from the position of Secretary of the President of the Republic for Regional and Local Affairs, for which he had been appointed by presidential decree on 28 September 2017.
He also appointed Fernando Bartolomeu Cativa for the position of Secretary of the President of the Republic for Political and Parliamentary Affairs and Pedro Fiete Correia Raimundo for the position of Secretary of the President of the Republic for State Reform.
As part of the remodeling of the previous government team, which included the arrival of new ministers in the Foreign Affairs and Tourism portfolios, Esmeralda Bravo Mendonça da Silva was also appointed to the post of Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Hélder Jonas Leonardo Chingunde Marcelino for the post of Secretary of State for Tourism.
On April 6, the Civil House released a long list of exonerations and appointments, with 17 ministers and 24 secretaries of state, justifying the new composition of the Government with the "convenience of service and the need to conform the composition to the new organic".
The remodeling included Manuel Augusto's departure from the Foreign Affairs portfolio, being replaced by Tete António, and the merger of the Culture, Environment and Tourism departments into a super-ministry that will be led by biologist Adjany Costa, 30, the youngest element of the new executive.
