National Assembly with budget of 64 million dollars for 2020

The National Assembly of Angola approved a budget of approximately 64 million dollars for its operation in 2020, but calls for restraint in expenses as it recognizes that the budget is "insufficient" for real needs.

:

According to a resolution published on March 30 in the Diário da República de Angola, of the approximately 34 billion kwanzas (64 million dollars), 32 billion are destined to the National Assembly, 1.6 billion to the Provedor de Justice and 713 million to the Angolan Social Communication Regulatory Authority.

However, the National Assembly considers that this budget "is insufficient to meet real needs" and calls for "restrictive measures" to ensure compliance with the charges arising from its activities.

It also recommends that efforts be made to pay debts, especially those related to medical assistance and that the control of maintenance costs for vehicles and the parliament building be reinforced.

The resolution suggests, on the other hand, that mechanisms be adopted to leverage own revenues to “minimize constraints in the execution of expenditure”.

In the assembly, 220 deputies are seated, distributed by the parliamentary groups of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), with 150 deputies, National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), Wide Convergence of Salvation of Angola - Electoral Coalition (CASA- CE), Social Renewal Party (PRS) and Angola's National Liberation Front (FNLA).
