“Bumba your Short at Buba!” is the motto of this original festival, whose applications are open until the end of May. According to the organization, the objective is to reinforce a “regular activity of cinematographic and audiovisual production in the country”, encouraging the use of smartphones and tablets to capture images.
The ceremony that will announce the winner of this first edition is scheduled for August, in Luanda. Before that, no physical concentration is expected. It is an online festival from registration to voting.
In this “film festival of modern times”, as presented by the organization, the prize goes to creativity. Just a cell phone and an idea. The contest has a free theme and allows works produced since 2016, with a maximum duration of six minutes. The contents must be mostly related to the Angolan reality.
Animation, documentary or fiction can compete, as long as each candidate only submits one work to the contest. The application must be formalized at the IACA page dedicated to the festival. The jury, made up of five personalities from the area, will select the five best works among the 20 most voted by the public (who will be able to see them through YouTube).
To Novo Jornal, one of those responsible for the festival said that, with regard to awards, priority will be given to training, and scholarships in the area are being negotiated with high school and higher education institutions.
