The infrastructure, which was named Pedro Manuel Neto "Netinho" Polytechnic High School, has a boarding school for 120 students. Furthermore, one of its strengths is the fact that it is capable of accommodating a total of 1444 students, in two shifts, in various courses: engineering, civil construction, computer science, science and technology.
According to Miguel Gola, provincial director of Education, the institution already has physics, chemistry and biology laboratories, and work is currently underway to expand other areas, especially in the areas of mining, IT and electricity, writes Angop.
On the other hand, he also expressed concern about the mass exodus of professionals from the sector to others, which represents an obstacle to the coverage of teaching activity provincially.
According to the provincial director of Education, quoted by Angop, the sector is currently facing a shortage of teachers in general education, due to the transition of a "large number" of teachers to higher education, motivated by the new remuneration framework.
The province of Cuanza Norte currently has just over 200 units that house more than 1000 general education classrooms, with more than two hundred students, supported by 5000 teachers, said Miguel Gola, who considered that the current number of teachers is still small in relation to the demand for teaching coverage.
Among the main demands of the sector at provincial level, the person in charge indicated the construction of new units, with the aim of reducing the number of children who are outside the regular education system and the entry of new staff, writes Angop.
