The announcement was made by the Regional Office of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA – Africa), through a statement that VerAngola had access to.
In the note, the entity recalls that this year's edition will have the participation of 16 countries.
"This year's Afrobasket, which brings together 16 nations, will take place from August 12 to 24," the statement said.
The teams that qualified for the competition were announced last month, with the list comprising hosts Angola, current champions Tunisia, Guinea, Cape Verde, Libya, Nigeria, Uganda, Senegal, Cameroon, Rwanda, Madagascar, Ivory Coast, Egypt, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and Mali.
The statement also recalls that this is the "fourth time that Angola has hosted the tournament", after the editions of 1989, 1999 and 2007.
The event in Angola, which is the country with the highest number of titles won (a total of 11), takes place as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of national independence, celebrated on November 11 this year.
