Mateus Rodrigues said that of the 11,590 weapons collected between 18 February and 5 March, only 2,166 were voluntarily handed in.
According to the National Police spokesperson, 9,377 magazines and 53,174 rounds of ammunition were also collected.
The official also said that 1,329 weapons, 1,326 magazines and 7,224 rounds of ammunition have been collected in Luanda to date.
The campaign to collect weapons of war used by private security companies and self-protection systems is taking place throughout the country and aims to replace these weapons with smaller calibre weapons.
