In his message, the head of state pays "a simple tribute to all the women in the world who help build the present and keep alive the hope of better days for all Humanity".

"The target of prejudices that try to diminish them, women have been demanding and affirming their rights to be respected and to act equitably in society", says João Lourenço, defending the active participation of women in all areas.

"Female empowerment is already a reality in our time, but we need to continue to create favorable conditions for women's active participation in all areas of life: family, social, political, business, cultural and sporting", he points out.

In the letter, the President salutes women, especially Angolan women, who "from an early age were committed to all these fronts, from the heroic phase of the National Liberation Struggle, through the period of resistance to armed aggression and socio-economic reconstruction from the country".

João Lourenço says that Angolan women are currently seen performing "the most different tasks with zeal, assuming the most varied roles with competence and a sense of responsibility, demonstrating their talent in multiple areas of our life in society".

He also highlights that "all these gains and advances" in no way diminished "her ability to manage a home and domestic life, to train her children, to extend a helping hand to those in need."

"I sincerely hope that women around the world can overcome the barriers that still weigh on them and that the movement towards their emancipation and dignity will be unstoppable", concludes the head of state.

The person who also did not let this date go unnoticed was the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança Costa, who highlighted that inequality and violence against women are an "urgent resolution".

"Inequality and domestic violence to which women are subject are aspects that require urgent resolution and are central to the Executive's Agenda, which aims to combat silence and give voice to complaints about gender prejudice, lack of opportunities, harassment and violation of their rights, in the public space, at work and in the family", says Esperança da Costa, in her message alluding to the 8th of March, made available on the website of the Vice-Presidency of the Republic and to which VerAngola had access.

The vice-PR states that the "increasing access of women to the job market, being integrated in all sectors of social and political life, despite being confronted, here and there, by precarious employment, low levels of education, low income and, in most cases, due to the glaring lack of opportunities".

Esperança da Costa also considers that women, "all over the world, with particular emphasis in Angola", have been assuming a "noted protagonism, at a professional level, playing a crucial role in promoting sustainable development, an essential and decisive factor for boost our country's economic growth".

The governor ends by addressing to the women "wishes for many successes, achievements and for them to remain resilient in the face of the inexorable changes that the family has been undergoing in recent times".
