The portal, which started operating this Monday, allows immigrants from the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) with cases pending until December 31, 2022 to obtain a residence permit automatically, without the need to go to a SEF service point.
According to a joint note from the press offices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Deputy Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, the SEF had issued, by 6 pm, a total of 1515 documents with reference to the payment of residence permits.
Of the more than 9,700 requests for residence permits received on the portal, 109 "await a security consultation by the SEF", adds the note, noting that "citizens holding new CPLP consular visas, issued after 31 October 2022, also can register on the portal", accessible through the website of the Foreigners and Borders Service and the ePortugal.gov portal.
According to official data, there are around 150,000 immigrants from Portuguese-speaking countries in Portugal with pending cases at the SEF.
The residence permit in Portugal for CPLP citizens is granted under the mobility agreement between the Member States of the organization.
In addition to Portugal, Cape Verde, Brazil, Timor-Leste, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé and Príncipe, Angola and Mozambique are part of the CPLP.
