Chinese citizen arrested in Luanda on suspicion of trafficking women for prostitution

A Chinese citizen was arrested in Luanda, accused of various crimes, including human trafficking, with the enticement of fellow countrymen to practice prostitution in Angola, according to the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC).

According to a press release from SIC de Angola, the 51-year-old Chinese citizen was arrested on the 3rd of this month at the Casino Hotel-KTV, located in the municipality of Viana, where he was a manager and resident.

The accused will have committed the crimes of criminal association, trafficking in human beings and pimping, highlighting in the note that following the investigations, his wife, also of Chinese nationality, aged 52, who allegedly helped him in the enticement of victims for the practice of prostitution.

"It should be mentioned that the detention of this citizen is the result of a thorough investigative follow-up work, which culminated in the arrest in flagrante delicto, after a thorough search, it was faced with the presence of eight citizens of Chinese nationality, aged between 31 and 44 years old", refers in the note.

In its investigations, SIC found that the citizens were hired by the accused when they were in China, with the aim of signing employment contracts in Angola, which did not mention the type of work.

In Angola, reported SIC, the women were accommodated at the Casino Hotel-KTV and under threats their passports were withdrawn, with the pretext of a supposed regularization of their migratory situation.

"Which is false, because while they were waiting, they were locked in the hotel rooms and forced to have sex in exchange for monetary values, receiving 500,000 kwanzas per month as remuneration", reads the statement.
