Carlos Santos, responsible for the company, in statements to the Public Television of Angola (TPA), said that they are "very happy with the market" and that products with the national seal "are very well accepted".
"We are currently exporting to the US, we are certified by the FDA [Food and Drug Administration - an agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services]. We are very happy with the market, there is a lot of demand, our products are very well accepted" and "we already have a container ready to go and the second export on order as well", informed the person in charge.
"Our crab is a gem here, it's very popular, it's a much sweeter crab than they're used to eating," he added.
With a monthly catch rate of around 500 tons, the company wants to increase the number of jobs.
According to Carlos Santos, quoted by TPA, the crab area employs around 170 people directly while the factory has a total of 785 workers: "Here in the crab sector we are employing around 170 people directly and in the whole factory 785 direct employees. We are counting, soon, to employ more than 100 people, that we have new lines to open in the crab sector", he said.
According to TPA, the National Institute of Fisheries Industry made it known that there are two other companies in Benguela that intend to export seafood to Europe.
