It was through a statement that the federation announced the suspension of the current edition of the national championship and explained that on the 28th of March they received a letter from the AAFA announcing the stoppage of the activities of the referees of the national first division.
"The Board of the Angolan Football Federation - FAF, received on the 28th of this month, a letter from the Association of Football Referees of Angola, with the subject Stoppage of Activity of Football Referees of the 1st Division", it can read- if in the note.
In view of this situation, the FAF explains that contacts were established with the referees' association, in order to "seek solutions that would ensure the continuity of Girbola 2021/2022".
However, "there was no consensus between the parties and, given the fact that the FAF does not have the financial conditions to meet the demands presented by the referees of the 1st national division, we hereby inform with immediate effect the temporary suspension of this edition of Girabola", adds the federation.
