"We regret the unfortunate event, addressing the bereaved family and colleagues of the PSP agent, the deepest feelings of condolence. May his soul rest in peace!", reads a post on the Minint social network page.

The 27-year-old agent Fábio Guerra died due to "severe brain injuries" he suffered, at 9:58 am, at Hospital de São José, in Lisbon.

On Sunday, the Portuguese Navy revealed6 that two marines are responding to an internal inquiry and "at the disposal of the authorities" for investigations into the events that led to the aggression of four policemen outside a nightclub in Lisbon.

The other three PSP agents attacked next to the Mome nightclub, on Avenida 24 de Julho, were discharged from the hospital on Saturday and gave statements to the Judiciary Police, which is investigating the case, a PSP source told Lusa.

In a statement released on Saturday, the PSP said that the incident took place at 6:30 am that day "outside a nightlife establishment" and began "with mutual aggressions between several citizens".

According to the police, there were "four police officers, off duty, who immediately intervened, as was their legal obligation", ending up being "violently" attacked by one of the groups.
