According to a statement from the ministry to which VerAngola had access, the signing took place at the MESCTI premises, within the framework of the strategic partnership agenda that FAO has developed with national institutions.

This Action Plan results from a Memorandum of Understanding signed on 10 November 2020, between the Ministry of Economy and Planning (MEP) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESCTI) on the Integration of Universities in Agribusiness "Uniagro-Prodesi".

This plan aims to collaborate in several areas of work such as Food and Nutrition Security; development of value chains and agribusiness; Climatically Intelligent Livestock and Agriculture; Environmental Zoning; Forest Management; Animal and Plant Health; Agricultural Mechanization; Strengthening of technical capacities through the training of teaching staff and students; and development of Scientific Investigations and Technological Innovations.

This partnership will be made through Letters of Agreement directly between FAO and the universities, and will include technical training, post-graduation, specialized studies, generation and sharing of data, exchange of national and international experiences.

The document also states that 10 provinces will benefit, namely Benguela, Cabinda, Cuando Cubango, Cuanza Sul, Cunene, Huambo, Huíla, Luanda, Namibe and Uíge.

The aforementioned plan, signed by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Maria do Rosário Bragança, and by the FAO Representative in Angola, Gherda Barreto, comes into force immediately, and the implementation covers the period 2021/2023.
