Torrential rains this Tuesday caused flooding, falling trees and houses, congestion and left impassable streets in the capital, where a street vendor died electrocuted and two children are missing.

Faustino Miguéns, spokesman for the Civil Protection and Fire Service of Luanda, quoted by TPA, revealed that uninterrupted rain affected 80 percent of the city and that in addition to the death of one person, two children are reported missing in the urban district of New life.

In the urban district of Samba, the main road became impassable with long sheets of water flowing from the peripheral neighborhoods and in Rua da Liga Africana, the fall of a tree forced the traffic to stop.

The provincial governor of Luanda, Joana Lina, told TPA that she will assess the situation with the municipal and district administrations that are already collecting information about the occurrences.

The governor noted that in some areas there are still heaps of garbage, which were washed away by the rains, and pointed out that the issue of ravines "is being addressed".

In the flooded streets of the city and neighborhoods, debris, mud and water accumulated, which prevented or hindered the movement of many residents during the three hours of rain in the morning.

There are also records of overflow basins, falling trees on vehicles and falling of streetlights, according to Faustino Miguéns, who advised people not to keep in contact with electricity to avoid cases of electrocution.
