The more than 500 tons of rice were harvested on a farm located in Huila. According to the person responsible, the figures are quite positive, stating that production increased by about 200 tonnes, compared to the same period last year.
In statements to Angop, the businessman stressed that this increase meets one of the objectives of Chinese investment: to ensure that rice production increases from year to year.
According to Xu Liang, the rice peeling process is already being done. The product is already ready to be marketed, he said, revealing that a 25 kilogram bag costs 12,000 kwanzas.
The project, which relies on Chinese investment, also plans to support the production of beans and potatoes. According to the official, the project occupies a total of 500 hectares that are dedicated to the production of rice, maize, potatoes and onions.
The project was implemented in 2016 and aims to increase rice production to three thousand tons per year by 2022.
