ANGOTIC predicts more than 10,000 participants in the 2020 edition

The minister of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, José Carvalho da Rocha, said this Tuesday, at the launch of ANGOTIC, that Angola registers "an increasingly exponential curve" in the use of telecommunications and information technologies.

According to the official who was speaking this Tuesday, in Luanda, at the launch conference of the third edition of the Forum and Global Exhibition of Information and Communication Technologies, called ANGOTIC 2020, scheduled for 11,12 and 13 June in Luanda , it will also assess the situation of the sector.

"We also have the opportunity to share the challenges of information and communication technologies with specialists from different latitudes. From the results that we have been obtaining, we see, in our country, an exponential curve in the use of telecommunications and information technologies. "he stated.

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technologies (MTTI), organizer of the event, plans to gather in the space of the Special Economic Zone, in the municipality of Viana, more than 10,000 national and international participants.

According to the director of the Instituto de Fomento da Sociedade de Informação, Meick Sandro Afonso, ANGOTIC 2020 is scheduled to hold 40 sessions, focused on topics such as artificial intelligence, health, climate change, electronic commerce.

Smart cities, cybersecurity, the impact of information and communication technologies on education, technological start-ups and incubators, digital inclusion and equality, regulation, 5G transformations are also topics to be discussed at the meeting.

The global event brings together operators from the sector, government entities, agents from the information and communication technology industry, emerging companies or students.

The country currently has more than 14 million mobile phone users and almost 7 million Internet subscribers, according to data from the Angolan Communications Institute, published in December 2019.
