Cholera advances with 255 more cases and six deaths

Cholera continues to spread in Angola with 255 more cases reported, bringing the total to 3,402, and six deaths, now totaling 114 deaths, according to the latest bulletin from the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

In the last 24 hours, 119 new cases were recorded in Luanda province, 104 in Bengo province, 26 in Icolo and Bengo province and 6 in Cuanza Sul province.

The deaths occurred in Luanda (4) and Bengo (2), with 252 people hospitalized with cholera.

Since the beginning of the outbreak on 7 January, a cumulative total of 3,402 cases have been reported in ten Angolan provinces, 1,661 in Luanda, 1,267 in Bengo, 433 in Icolo and Bengo, 16 in Cuanza Sul, 6 in Huambo, 6 in Huíla, 5 in Zaire, 5 in Malanje, 2 in Cuanza Norte and 1 in Cunene, with people aged between 2 and 100 years.

There have been 114 deaths since the beginning of the outbreak, of which 52 were in Luanda, 45 in Bengo, 15 in Icolo and Bengo and 2 in Cuanza Sul, with the most affected age group being 2 to 5 years old with 525 cases and 14 deaths, followed by 10 to 14 years old with 436 cases and 8 deaths.
