The head of the Environment department did not provide a specific date for achieving this goal. However, she pointed out that the classification of this park located in the municipality of Quiçama as the country's first biosphere reserve should happen soon.

In statements to Angop, the minister indicated that the classification of the biosphere is coming soon, and, to this end, work is underway with the Ministry of Education and UNESCO.

On the occasion, Ana Paula Pereira pointed out the fact that the aforementioned park currently has better conditions to receive tourists, since investments in infrastructure, technical and technological resources and security have been made and continue.

As an example, according to Angop, the minister mentioned the repopulation of animals, originating from Namibia, and also the operation of a school for environmental inspectors, from which newly trained inspectors from the Luando Regional Park graduated.

The meeting with the governor of Icolo and Bengo served to discuss the location of a site to build a waste recovery center.

It is worth remembering that at the end of last month, the President of the Republic had already announced that, this year, the country would have its first marine conservation area, as well as the first biosphere reserve.

"This year, we will have the first marine conservation area on the coast of Namibe province, as well as the first biosphere reserve, which will extend from the Quissama National Park to the sea," said João Lourenço, when speaking at the International Conference on Biodiversity and Conservation Areas, held at the end of January in Luanda.
