According to Manuel Halaiwa, the SIC received a report of kidnapping and during the course of the investigations a criminal network was dismantled, resulting in the arrest of six people, aged between 19 and 45, including two women and a Brazilian citizen.
According to the same source, those detained are suspected of the crimes of "criminal association and also extortion".
The SIC spokesperson said that the leader of the group is a 34-year-old woman, who faked her own kidnapping, for the third time, "with the intention of extorting her husband".
This is a 45-year-old Portuguese citizen, linked to the construction sector and who has lived with the suspect for seven years.
"The SIC, in its investigations, found that this is not the first case, the last one occurred on December 31, 2024 and another one at an earlier time. Whenever she decides to be with friends, she always simulates a kidnapping and ends up creating conditions to extort money from her husband", explained Manuel Halaiwa.
With these actions, the woman managed to steal a total of 2.7 million kwanzas from her partner.
In the latter case, the accused spent two days in a guesthouse in Luanda, where she was arrested in the company of a group of friends.
On Wednesday, following the investigation, the Brazilian citizen was arrested, "who used his cell phone to persuade the foreign citizen to hand over the money", said the officer, highlighting that the suspects will now be presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office to formalize their arrest.
