"In this first edition, seven carnival groups and entertainment groups from the seven municipalities will parade. In 2026, the number of participants will be increased", informed Henriques Manuel Neves, provincial director of Culture of Icolo and Bengo, adding that this is an exciting moment and, as it is the first time that an edition of the provincial Carnival is being held, everything is being done to make it a success.

Quoted by Angop, the official said that prizes will be awarded to the first three places: the first place will take home five million kwanzas, while the second and third place winners will receive three million kwanzas and two million kwanzas, respectively.

Carnival blocks will paint the square of the Cultural Center Square Dr. António Agostinho Neto, in the municipality of Catete, whose provincial parade will be filled with dances of various styles such as semba, cabecinha and sambalaji.

According to Angop, the groups that will fill the province with Carnival revelry are Unidos de Catete (they will dance the cabecinha style), Unidos da Quiçama (sambalaji), Unidos do Zango (semba), Unidos do Sequele (semba), Unidos do Cabo Ledo (they will dance the catutula style), Unidos de Cabiri (cabecinha) and Unidos do Bom Jesus (semba).

It is worth remembering that, this year, Carnival Day is celebrated on Tuesday, March 4th.
