The agreements were signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Taye Atske-Selassie.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to which VerAngola had access, the signing took place on the eve of the 37th Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, which will take place this weekend ( 17th and 18th February).
"The General Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Angola and the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia aims to establish the framework for promoting cooperation between the parties, based on mutually advantageous terms and conditions, in the economic, social, cultural, technical, scientific and others, in accordance with the respective legislation, policies and capabilities of each party, in a spirit of friendly collaboration", the note reads.
In turn, the memorandum of understanding aims to hold "regular political consultations to analyze and strengthen relations between the two States", as well as the exchange of views on "regional and international issues of common interest".
According to the guardianship's note, relations between the two countries are "historical and friendly", and, in recent decades, "the economic development potential of both countries has been emerging as a driving force capable of boosting bilateral cooperation more comprehensive and with an opportunity for investment and partnerships in key areas such as aviation, oil and gas, mining exploration, telecommunications, coffee, tourism, health, culture, sport and financial services".
