"As Angola is a signatory of the Paris agreement, the starting point is regulation. To this end, we are promoting dialogues to streamline a regulatory framework with standards and a governance model in line with international practices for the creation of a carbon market in order to give framework to existing initiatives and guarantee effective compensation", said the minister, quoted by Public Television of Angola (TPA).
With regard to the energy transition, advances TPA, Angola has progressed by around 72 percent. However, there are still several obstacles to overcome, including "completion of certification" of forests and environmental conservation areas, according to the minister.
"One of them is the completion of the certification of our forests and environmental conservation areas, commonly known as national parks; second, the operationalization of the climate observatory; third, the creation of a carbon credit certification system; fourth, the development of projects reduction of emissions and finally the strengthening of institutional capacities", indicated Ana Paula de Carvalho, cited by TPA.
Remember that the country is committed to achieving the goal of around 70 percent clean energy by 2025.
