In this period, TAAG increased the frequency of weekly flights in the national territory from 20 to 44 connections, and internationally from 13 to 29 international flights, including new routes, said the chairman of the board of directors, Ana Francisco Major.
"We are increasing flights on a quarterly basis and we expect to reach 73 domestic flights and 51 international flights weekly by the end of this year", he said, stressing that the objective is also to explore the "Cargo" sector (transport of goods), in which TAAG detected a demand not yet satisfied by other operators.
"This is an opportunity for Angola that may have its own capacity to cover this demand and share it within the region", said the official, explaining that TAAG is exploring this opportunity with flights and increasing visibility in that market.
"We are advanced in the regional dialogue, highlighting here Cape Verde and Zambia, without neglecting other approaches under study", she added.
Executive chairman Eduardo Fairen Soria detailed, on the other hand, that the regional market "is not responding at the same speed" as the domestic market.
Destinations such as Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) and São Tomé and Príncipe are responding more slowly, while other destinations in southern Africa are reacting well, such as Maputo and Johannesburg, he pointed out, hoping for improvements as barriers are removed. of the Ómicron variant of covid-19 and return to normal.
The manager also added that a new intercontinental route is being studied, which he preferred not to reveal for now.
