“Palanquinhas” are in the final of the African Cup of Nations in women's handball

The national junior women's handball team qualified, this Thursday, for the final of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), by beating Tunisia by 37-27. The “palaquinhas” are in Guinea Conakry, where they are fighting for the title of the 28th edition of the competition.

The semi-finals match, held at Pavilhão 28 de Setembro, was always favorable to the Angolans, who at half-time were already winning by 19-12. It is recalled that Tunisia is the current champion of the tournament, having won the last edition, played in 2019.

The final challenge of the national team is scheduled for this Saturday: Angola must beat Egypt to reach the title. The Egyptians secured the final after beating hosts Guinea 28-23.

This Thursday, the remaining positions of the league table (from 5th to 8th places) also began to be disputed, with Algeria beating Burkina Faso by 27-17 and Nigeria overcoming Zambia by 35 -26. This Friday, the winning teams enter the field to compete for 5th and 6th places, while the defeated teams compete for 7th and 8th place in the table.

As for the last place on the podium, it will be up for grabs between Tunisia and Guinea.

Remember that the four finalist teams are qualified for the World Cup, which will take place in Slovenia next June.
