In a note of condolences, the minister estimated that the death of Elisa Peres constitutes a great loss for handball and for sports in general.
"The death of Elisa Peres constitutes a great loss for handball and for sport in general. Her example of selflessness must be followed by the new generation of practitioners. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family", she said.
Elisa Peres stood out in winning the first African trophy achieved by Angola, in 1989, alongside athletes such as Palmira Barbosa, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, Fábia Raposo, Elisa Webba, among others.
At the club level, she reached her apogee at the service of Petro de Luanda.
