1º de Agosto beat Petro de Luanda by the minimum advantage in the Girabola classic

The 1st of August, four-time champion - guided by the Portuguese Paulo Duarte - beat rival Petro de Luanda by 1-0, in a game of the ninth round of the football championship.

The solitary goal of the match, which took place at the 11 de Novembro stadium in Luanda, was scored by Matuvila, on goal, on 83 minutes.

With this result, the 'Augustinians' added the second victory in the competition, in just two games played and moved up to 12th position with six points.

The 1st of August, which was not guided by Paulo Duarte, retained in Portugal due to the suspension of air links with Angola, has seven games overdue at Girabola, for having served about 20 days' quarantine.

Despite the defeat, Petro de Luanda remains at the top of the championship with 19 points, the result of nine games already played.

This was the 80th derby in the national football championship between 1º de Agosto and Petro de Luanda, the biggest national teams and the most titled, with 32 victories for the 'oil companies', 26 victories for the 1st of August and in half 22 draws.

Also this Sunday, Ferrovia do Huambo rose to the second position of the competition, with 15 points, after beating Williet de Benguela 2-0 at the Curicutelas stadium. Jorginho in the 46th minute and Jetson in the 85th minute ensured the victory of the Huambo team.

In Dundo, Lunda Norte province, Sagrada Esperança received and defeated the freshman Baixa de Cassange de Malanje by 3-0 and climbed one step in the scoring table.

Simão, in the first minute of the game, Gaspar, in the 22nd minute, and Celso, in the 54th, were the service markers.

At the Eucaliptos stadium, in Bié province, Cuando-Cubango FC drew with Interclube (0-0), trained by the Portuguese Ivo Campos.

Picas, from Petro de Luanda, is the championship's top scorer with five goals, followed by Valente, from Ferrovia do Huambo, and Adó Pena, from Académica do Lobito, both with 4 goals each.
