Covid-19: country reports 11 more infections and two deaths

The country recorded two more deaths due to covid-19 and 11 new cases in the last 24 hours, announced the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

According to the authorities, eight cases were registered in Luanda and one in each of the provinces of Benguela, Huambo and Cabinda, and the ages range between 7 months and 54 years.

In this period two deaths were registered, in Huíla and Bengo, a man, 68 years old, and a woman, 85 years old, of Angolan nationality.

Twenty-two people were also considered recovered from the disease.

Angola thus rises to 20,400 cases, of which 496 have died, 18,951 are considered recovered and 953 are active, of which six are in critical condition and eight in serious condition.

The authorities revealed that 1087 samples have been processed, out of a total of 382,171.

From January 16 to date, 12,113 travelers have been tested at the 4 de Fevereiro Airport, in Luanda, upon arrival, of which 39 had positive results in the post-disembarkation test (antigen).

The nationalities of the passengers are Angolan (17), Brazilian (3), British (1), Congolese (1), French (1), Israeli (1), Mozambican (1), Nigerian (2), South African (1), Ivory Coast (1), Mauritanian (1), Sao Tomean (1), Indian (0), Malian (1), Somali (2) and Tanzanian (4).

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,419,730 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 109.4 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
