The consideration was made during a visit that the governor and the governor of Cabinda, Suzana Abreu, made last Friday to the construction site of the new airport.

"This airport will be a milestone in the infrastructure of our country. With it, we are opening doors to new opportunities and strengthening our economy", said José de Lima Massano, quoted in a statement from the provincial government of Cabinda, to which VerAngola had access.

The provincial governor pointed out the commitment to this project. "We are committed to this project because we believe that it will transform Cabinda into a regional hub. The new Cabinda International Airport will bring progress and development", she said.

On the occasion, the two governors highlighted the progress made in the construction of this airport.

"The significant progress in the construction of the airport shows that the project is moving forward consistently", reads the note, which adds that "despite the contractual deadline for the work being 48 months, the company responsible for executing the project is working hard to deliver the work in a short period".

According to the provincial government, so far, "essential stages have been completed, such as the successful removal of explosive devices, assembly of the construction sites and geotechnical investigation", and currently "the stripping work on the landing and take-off runway is in full swing, demonstrating the significant progress of the works".

The new airport will have a runway measuring 3500 meters long and 45 meters wide, as well as "a modern passenger terminal, a control tower, a fire station and a police station".

Friday was also marked by visits to the construction sites of the Cabinda Refinery and the Cabinda Deep Water Port.

As for the refinery, whose construction is in the final stages, José de Lima Massano highlighted the importance of the project for the economy.

"This project will not only reduce our dependence on fuel imports, but will also create significant opportunities for the economic development of the region", he said, quoted in another statement from the provincial government, to which VerAngola had access.

Suzana Abreu said that they are on the right track to transform the province into a "production hub".

"We are on the right track to transform Cabinda into a production hub. This project will bring direct benefits to our population and will strengthen the economic infrastructure of our country", she said.

Regarding the works on the Deep Water Port of Cabinda, under construction in the town of Caio and whose first phase is due to come into operation in December this year, the Minister of State for Economic Coordination said that this port symbolizes the commitment to "sustainable development and job creation".

"The Port of Caio is not just an infrastructure project; it is a symbol of our commitment to sustainable development and job creation for Angolans", he said.

In turn, the governor of Cabinda said that they are "enthusiastic about the potential of the Port of Caio".

"It will be a driving force for the local economy and will provide new opportunities for our young people," she added, quoted in another statement from the Cabinda government, to which VerAngola had access.

"The port terminal will have the capacity to receive up to two long-haul vessels simultaneously, each of which can transport up to 5000 20-foot containers. Located two kilometres from the coast, the Port of Caio will also have a free trade zone that aims to attract investors and foster local economic development," the statement reads.

According to the provincial government, approximately 1200 workers are currently "involved in the construction of the project, operating in three shifts to ensure that work is carried out 24 hours a day".

"This first phase of the project is expected to create approximately 1600 direct jobs, offering significant opportunities for the local population and contributing to the province's economic growth," the statement says.
