According to a note from FIJE, to which VerAngola had access, the scholarship program is seen as an "opportunity for young Angolans to obtain excellent training in Brazilian institutions".

Registration opened this Friday and runs until the 19th of this month.

The scholarships for this program – which are the result of a partnership between Fije and Lean Group Education, celebrated in October last year, in Brazil, in the fields of health, social and exact sciences and engineering, whose understanding agreement provides access to 40 thousand scholarships for young people from Portuguese-speaking African countries, notably Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde and Guinea-Bissau – are in private establishments.

For Angola, according to Angop, the universities of Sensu, Santa Madalena Sofia, Itecne, Van Gogh, Fadavila and Fiso are available, in addition to the Santé Corps and CEPUL institutes.

According to Américo Tomás, spokesperson for the project, the management of these scholarships covers a period of ten years, and annually the idea is to include 1000 young Angolans to Brazil, while another 1900 remain in the country to study remotely.

Speaking to Angop, the official explained that the scholarships are co-financed, with educational establishments covering 80 percent of the training, while the student bears the remaining percentage, which includes accommodation, food and transport.

According to Américo Tomás, after the student is regularized in Brazil, the government makes 600 reais available, equivalent to 91,000 kwanzas, and the students with the best performance, after one year, are entitled to a paid internship and have the possibility of applying for scholarships fully funded by the Brazilian government.

He also said that the conditions have been created to begin registrations. "The conditions are in place for registrations to begin, which is why we invite all young people from Huíla and surrounding provinces interested in having their education in Brazil to register in the next three days at the Instituto Superior de Ciências da Education in Huíla", he said, quoted by Angop.

Among the criteria, according to the person in charge, for a degree, candidates must have Angolan nationality, be between 18 and 25 years old, have completed high school with a minimum average of 12 points and have a certificate with the grades. For postgraduate, university extension and technical courses, there is no age limit, writes Angop.

After Huíla, it is time to present and open registrations in Benguela, Moxico and Luanda, until next month, whose program extends to competitors from neighboring locations.
