In a statement signed by the general secretary of FLEC/FAC, Jacinto António Télica, distributed to the press this Tuesday, FLEC "vehemently denied the fanciful statements" made at a press conference on Saturday by the spokesperson for the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), Manuel Halaiwa.

On Saturday, authorities announced the dismantling of a subversive group that intended to attack strategic targets such as the Presidency of the Republic, the Luanda refinery and the US embassy, during the visit of former US President Joe Biden, having seized 10 explosives.

"The Cabinda State Liberation Front (FLEC) reminds, once again, that we operate exclusively in Cabinda, Angola being another state in which FLEC does not get involved in its internal problems", they say in the note.

According to the statement, the SIC spokesperson "should have mentioned that FLEC fights Angola as a colonizing power and occupier of Cabinda exclusively in Cabinda, and not create imaginary and non-existent relations between FLEC and other organizations."

For the independence organization, the statements by the SIC spokesperson "demonstrate the chronic, unhealthy obsession of the Angolan authorities in incessantly pointing to FLEC all responsibility, direct or indirect, for the malaise of Angolan society and the climate of insecurity in Angola".

"With this obsession, the Angolan authorities compulsively try to hide their incapacity and ineffectiveness of military operations in the occupation and repression of Angola in Cabinda, but also the total incapacity of the President, João Lourenço, and the Angolan Government to resolve any type of crisis and conflict, whether in Cabinda, inside Angola or abroad", they highlight in the document.
