The evening began with a dinner organized to close the festivities of National Culture Day, which was celebrated this Wednesday.
"Sitting at the table with the host governor, Pereira Alfredo, the Minister of State for the Social Area, Maria do Rosário Bragança, and the Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, the Head of State witnessed, during the act, different moments, such as the of the tribute to deceased music icons (Jacinto Tchipa, Justino Handanga, Vini Vini and others) and the awarding of diplomas to prominent figures in the creative process in fields such as literature and music, many of them posthumously", says the Presidency of the Republic, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.
In a second moment, the 'magical night' featured a gala, which took place at the Manuel Rui Cultural Center, in Huambo.
The gala was "an apotheotic conclusion to the program commemorating National Culture Day, which the President of the Republic made a point of seeing in situ, superbly honoring the night that will always be one of great memories for everyone", the Presidency points out, in another note to which VerAngola had access.
At the beginning of the event, the Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, took the stage for a speech, "referring to the history of creation in Angola and how it was built, traveling through centuries and prominent names that the academy has the duty to remember and teach".
This January 8th, celebrated in the year in which Angola celebrates 50 years of independence, was also marked by the fact that the Minister of Culture presented João Lourenço with the certificate of classification of SONA on the representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO.
"From the hands of the minister, President João Lourenço received the certificate of classification of SONA - Drawings and Geometric Figures on Sand, on the representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, by UNESCO", reads the statement, which adds that the head of State took the stage and "in a few words celebrated the fantastic achievement of the Angolan people, yet another after Mbanza Kongo, which became world famous", having called for the work that everyone together must "continue to do so that more victories in this area are added" to "spoils of glories as a nation".
After that, the cultural moment arrived with presentations starring Grupo Katiavala, Edna Mateia, among others.
"Then the night was taken over by the magic and perfection of the Katiavala Group, women from Huambo organized in a group that draws on their ancestry to show who we are, dancing on stage barefoot and vigorously, always with big smiles", the note states.
This was followed by Edna Mateia's performance, the "unbridled humor of General Evade Time with his unlikely participation in a thousand ancient wars and battles, to close the cycle with Ndaka Yo Wini, an arranger".
"In short, Huambo offered Angola a night worthy of the actions of the liberators who built, with boundless courage and heroism, November 11, 1975," the statement concluded.
It is worth remembering that João Lourenço went to Huambo this Wednesday with the intention of 'living the festival' of culture.
