In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, the FAF said it had "become aware of the death of the Angolan international midfielder and Under-17 world champion at the 2019 World Cup held in Brazil, Pedro Banga, which occurred on Sunday, December 31, 2023, in Luanda, victim of sudden death".

"In this time of pain and mourning, the FAF, on behalf of its leaders, workers and associates, bows to the pain of the family and the associative mass and offers its deepest condolences", adds the federation.

Last season, the Angolan international wore the shirt of Portuguese club Marítimo, where he played in 15 matches for the Under-23 team.

According to Angop, the 20-year-old passed out after a football game with friends, which took place in Luanda, where he was on vacation. Although his colleagues helped him, Pedro Banga ended up not resisting.
