Driver assessment will be done through multimedia exam

Drivers will now be evaluated through a multimedia exam, and, within a few days, the National Directorate of Traffic Roads will start implementing this exam, with the aim of analyzing the skills of those who wish to circulate in the road.

:

The information was provided by Arnaldo Manuel Carlos, general commander of the National Police, who, quoted by Jornal de Angola, added that all the processes for implementation have already been carried out, and that, within days, it will start with the realization.

The insertion of this type of examination, according to the person in charge, is one of the various stratagems of the National Council for Traffic and Traffic Planning (CNVOT) to be carried out this year, with the aim of reducing road accidents (in 2022 they caused 2999 deaths and 15,693 injuries, in a group of more than 13 thousand accidents).

Cited by Jornal de Angola, the general commander of the National Police – who was speaking this Monday, at a press conference, after the 1st Ordinary Session of the CNVOT – clarified that speeding, among other violations of the code, point to the lack of instruction of several drivers.

Thus, he added, it is considered "imperative and urgent" to insert the multimedia exam, "because it is much more rigorous" in assessing the skills of citizens. "Therefore, we deem it imperative and urgent to introduce the multimedia exam, as it is much more rigorous in assessing people's skills and which will then have a great impact on the reduction of road accidents and consequently the loss of lives and considerable material goods", he said, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

Still on this path, the official informed that, along with the multimedia examination, campaigns to raise awareness and educate citizens about the precautions to be taken when using cars and roads will also be increased in the various ministerial domains.

In addition, he also stressed that, from the perspective of the CNVOT, debates about accidents should be raised to a level similar to that of other problems in the country, just as the covid-19 pandemic was addressed, where there was intervention from various areas of society , writes Jornal de Angola.

Remember that the Highway Code will also be reviewed. With regard to this review, the person in charge took the opportunity to mention that the new code is being implemented with caution so that in the end it adjusts to reality, helping to reduce road accidents.

The 1st Ordinary Session of the CNVOT was guided by the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa and served to analyze the Draft National Strategy for Prevention and Road Safety 2023-2027 and the Plan of Activities for this year.
