Launched a competition for scholarships for African CPLP students. Applications open next month

On Tuesday, a new competition was launched to award scholarships, aimed at African students from the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP). Applications are scheduled to start in February.

:

Entitled 'Doctoral Research Scholarships', the competition, the result of an initiative by the Centro Ciência Língua Portuguesa (LP), will cover several fields of training, in a program that aims to encourage advanced training and scientific progress, as well as create rapprochement between CPLP researchers and scientists, writes Jornal de Angola.

Thus, those who wish to apply for scholarships can do so online, through the website www.ciencialp.pt.

On the occasion, the rector of the Agostinho Neto University (UAN), José Pedro Domingos, quoted by Jornal de Angola, noted that these scholarships represent a huge opportunity for the strategic course of internationalization of the university, having also identified this action as a new chance to strengthening of the chain of collaboration between the different units of the UAN.

Cited by Jornal de Angola, the official highlighted the openness of the UAN in stipulating special collaboration agreements with other higher education establishments, at an academic and scientific level.

Without giving concrete numbers, José Pedro Domingos also informed that the UAN currently has several students in Portuguese higher education institutions, of which several in establishments of the Centro Ciência LP chain and he also left the guarantee that, in order to simplify access to scholarships to more national students, UAN will start to disseminate the program more in the country.

On her turn, Suzana Catita, executive director of Centro Ciência LP, declared that the entity has advanced projects, aimed at bringing CPLP researchers and scientists closer together.

Also cited by Jornal de Angola, she made it known that 100 grants are made available each year, with funding from the Paciência e Tecnologia Foundation, managed in articulation with Portuguese universities, in the scientific fields of engineering, agriculture, biodiversity, health and the sea.

She also mentioned that the monthly scholarship has a value of 1200 euros, destined for fees, accommodation, food, among others, and added that scholarship students comply with a specific regulation, directed by the center, through a follow-up mode that ranges from the candidacy, choice and allocation of the scholarship, over the four years of training, writes Jornal de Angola.

In addition, she also said that the center aims to promote science in the Portuguese-speaking universe, as well as to strengthen the scientific and academic cooperation of the CPLP.

It should be noted that the center has two other processes of application for doctoral scholarships under way. You can get more information here.
