National diamond company invested 100 million dollars in diamond production in 2021

Ganga Júnior, chairman of the Board of Directors of Endiama, revealed that, in 2021, the flag diamond company, after having lost its role as a concessionaire, made an investment of 100 million dollars in prospecting, producing and cutting diamonds.

"Our investments directly linked to the issue of production were above 100 million dollars during the last year", he said.

According to the official, of the total invested, US$70 million was directed towards increasing the stake in Sociedade Mineira de Catoca – now holding 41 percent of the capital.

"We make significant investments in the field of production. As an example, I must mention that these investments were made either in terms of projects already in operation, to improve, for example, our provision, our participation, in the specific case of Catoca , we had a 32.8 percent stake, today we have a 41 percent stake and that cost us 70 million dollars," said the official.

The remaining 30 million were allocated to two other diamond projects, said the official, who was speaking at a press conference, alluding to the company's 41st anniversary.

He also took the opportunity to recall that the national diamond company is focused on activities that aim to stimulate geological-mining actions, with the aim of increasing production and expanding its operation in the diamond value chain.
