Spanish Elecnor receives additional four million dollars to complete water supply works

The Spanish company Elecnor will receive an additional budget, in the amount of nearly four million dollars, with a view to recovering works to strengthen the water supply in the provinces of Huíla (municipalities of Chibia and Humpata) and Uíge (municipality of Damba).

:

In total, the company will receive a reinforcement of 3.95 million dollars to resume and complete the three water supply projects. Of the nearly four million dollars, 1.83 million will be allocated to the municipality of Humpata. Already 1.15 million dollars will go to the Chibia project and 968,000 dollars will go to the municipality of Damba, writes Expansão.

The works awarded to the Spanish company stopped due to lack of funds. However, the Government decided to reinforce the initial contracts to complete the work.

According to several presidential orders dated December 28, 2021, cited by Expansão, the measure is justified by the "impressive need to complete the works" that started more than five years ago, as well as to restore the economic and financial balance of the contract signed with the company.

According to Expansão, in 2014 the company received more than 1.3 billion kwanzas (equivalent to around 13.2 million dollars at the time) to strengthen the water supply in Chibia and Damba. Two years later, in 2016, it received more than 12.2 million dollars to strengthen Humpata's water supply.

According to the report of the water supply and sanitation program for wastewater in urban areas by the Ministry of Energy and Water, for the month of January 2021, the nearly four million dollars to recover the works come from the Spanish Export Credit Agency.
