President of the Superior Council of the Judiciary points out insufficiency of judges

The president of the Superior Council for the Judiciary said, in Luanda, that Angola has 422 judges of law and 2932 judicial officials, an insufficient number to cover the future 60 counties of common jurisdiction planned for the country.

Joel Leonardo, quoted by Angop, was speaking at the opening ceremony of the new district courts in Luanda and Belas, opened within the scope of justice reform and strengthening of judicial services.

According to Joel Bernardo, the implementation of Luena county courts in the province of Moxico, Menongue, in the province of Cuando Cubango, Cabinda, Saurimo, in the province of Lunda Sul, in Cuando, province of Lunda Norte, is expected to take place soon. infrastructures are already completed.

On the occasion, the Attorney General of the Republic, Hélder Pitta Grós, underlined the need for the Executive to create financial conditions to fit more technicians in the judiciary and other areas, taking into account the process of justice and law reform that the country is experiencing.
